John Allen is the Founder and President of The Allen Company, a public affairs and strategy consultancy that forges high-value alliances, amplifies influence, and drives transformational initiatives for leaders and organizations nationwide. He is recognized for convening leaders across business, government, and philanthropy, securing transformative partnerships, and mobilizing resources to advance strategies and projects that unite communities and strengthen institutions.
In addition, John serves as Director of Sponsorships & Strategic Engagement for America250, the official U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission created by Congress to plan the nation’s 250th anniversary. In this role, he has spearheaded partnerships with Fortune 50, 100, and 500 companies, philanthropies, and high-net-worth individuals to commemorate and celebrate this historic milestone — consistently connecting values-driven partners to initiatives of national and historical importance.
John has raised millions in support of civic, educational, and cultural institutions, guided organizational growth for schools and universities, and built bipartisan alliances that strengthen communities across the country.
A native Washingtonian, John grew up immersed in public service, inspired by his parents’ impact across federal agencies under multiple presidential administrations beginning with President Ronald Reagan. He began his career in Washington, D.C., with BGR Group and the Center for Education Reform, leading business development, policy, and advocacy efforts at the state, local, and national levels.
John holds a B.A. in Political Science from Dickinson College, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University, and an MBA from Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management.
John resides just outside of New York City with his wife Caroline and their three children: Johnny, Maeve, and Torin.
The History of The Allen Company
In 1989, John C. Allen III founded The Allen Company shortly after working for President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George H.W. Bush. Following the transition, he started doing early morning radio and wanted to use his communications expertise to help companies, candidates, and issue organizations have an impact. He counseled chief executives, celebrities, and political leaders on messaging and media and did fundraising and strategy. It was a boutique firm in a city of mega-companies and he excelled as a result. He put it on pause briefly in 2000 to take a senior position at the US Department of Health and Human Services, where he ended his professional career.
Throughout his tenure, his son had the unique opportunity to learn firsthand how great communications can change the trajectory of any enterprise.
Today, John C. Allen IV has revived The Allen Company to bring a new generation of thought leadership and hands-on support to organizations in need of exponential growth.
